Grant Winners

Cambryn Baker

January 2021 Winner

This past December, Cambryn decided for her 11th birthday that instead of a birthday party, she wanted to go out to be a blessing to the homeless community in our neighborhood. My first thought was she was simply talking, but the closer we got to the 18th, she was serious and her mind was made up. With the help of donations from family, and church members, Cambryn had enough food to donate to 30 people. We gather 30 sack lunches filled with chicken sandwiches, chips, cookies, water, feminine pads, and hand sanitizer. On her birthday, and despite Covid, Cambryn, along with 4 other children gave food to the homeless community in our neighborhood. Additionally, on a regular basis, Cambryn is always donating her allowance to various homeless individuals she comes in contact with in our neighborhood. God has given Cambryn a heart for those who are less fortunate around us. Needless to say, we are proud of Cambryn, and we are tentative to go out again this month to be a blessing to more individuals who are homeless.

Jeremy Dent-Smith

April 2021 Winner

I always knew that my family was important and that they supported me to the fullest. But during the pandemic it became even clearer to me that my family was special. Some of my family members have underline health conditions so we had to make sure they had the items they needed. My mom and I would call around to see what everyone needed make a list and hit the stores. A lot of time we couldn’t find things so we all would just share if we had it. I found my self in stores helping other elderly people who didn’t have the support of younger family members. And also young kids just like me but who did not have the financial ability to afford things like groceries and other supplies. This is something I take pride in because I know that I’m not rich but I have a good family and situation but there are people close to me and ones that I don’t know who have it worse and that need these supplies more than I do.
